An ingredient name is one part of a formula. Concentration, the complete formula and how a product is used all matter.

Humectants

Ingredients such as glycerin help attract water. They often appear in products designed to support a comfortable, hydrated feel.

Emollients

Oils and other emollients give formulas slip and help the skin feel soft. Texture can vary from light fluids to richer creams.
